The sensory impact of the building can make a big difference to how people respond to stress. We brought the indoor and outdoor space together to provided quiet areas for residents to sit to help them develop positive coping mechanisms.
Healthcare
I understand the importance of designing an interior environment for your care facility that is warm and welcoming and enhances the health and wellbeing of the residents, meeting their complex needs without feeling institutional. I will strengthen and support your care facilities brand, values and culture, providing high quality design and creating a safe environment capable of supporting high quality care.
I appreciate that accessibility for all is a major consideration and have a wealth of experience in planning for ambulant disabled and wheelchair users and can adapt designs to meet the specific needs of your residents. Colour contrast for the visually impaired and consideration for residents with other special needs can be incorporated into the design proposals. With training in dementia and design from the University of Stirling, I understand how to support people with physical and cognitive decline through applying the key dementia design principles.
Balancing aesthetics and comfort with the functionality of the space, including robustness of the finishes and furnishings means my designs will withstand the day to day activities of a care home for years to come.
